Indiana State Police Investigating Inmate Death at Marshall County Jail

The Indiana State Police investigators from the Bremen Post are investigating the death of an inmate at the Marshall County Jail. 

The jail staff members were reportedly alerted by an inmate that a bunkmate was suffering from a possible medical episode at 1 a.m. ET on Wednesday, February 16.  They initiated medical protocol and the inmate became unresponsive, according to the report.  Police say the jail staff began life-saving efforts until emergency medical technicians arrived.   The inmate was transported to the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth where he was pronounced deceased. 

An autopsy is scheduled.  

The identity of the inmate is being withheld until family notification is made.
