Flood Watch, Winter Storm Watch in Effect

The area is under a Flood Watch and Winter Storm Watch through Thursday evening.

Snowmelt and up to two inches of rain will increase water levels in ditches, creeks, and retention ponds.  Flooding of low-lying areas is anticipated and in areas prone to flooding.

Several roads are experiencing high water.  Officials urge caution when traveling and do not drive down roads that have high water, or drive around barricades. 

Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director the Yellow River is currently at 5.42 feet and is forecast to rise to 13.7 feet which is in the “minor” flood stage by Saturday morning.  Flood stage is at 13 feet.  At 13.5 feet, some residential and commercial properties near the Jefferson Street bridge in Plymouth begin to flood. 

The Tippecanoe River at Ora is currently at 7.84 feet and is forecast to rise to 11.5 feet which is in the “action” stage by Sunday morning.  Flood stage is 12 feet.  

The area is forecast to receive snow.  Preliminary figures show between four and seven inches of snow Thursday and there is a chance for ice accumulation of up to one-tenth of an inch.
