Bremen Town Council to Hold Public Hearing Today Concerning New Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Bremen Town Council members will hold a public hearing today to discuss a proposed construction project that involves a new Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Sarah Ward from Jones Petrie and Rafinski said the project will include the construction of a New Package Extended Aeration plant developed by Aero-Mod.  The treatment process “occurs within a series of rectangular concrete tanks constructed with common walls and features continuous discharge clarifiers.  The system consists of a selector tank, primary and secondary aeration tanks, clarifiers, and an aerobic sludge digestion tank”.

Three new buildings will be featured including a maintenance building; a control, chemical feed and blower building; and sludge storage structure.  Other additions include UV post aeration, a chemical feed tank, sludge drying bed improvements, a storm water pump station, and new effluent outfall to the Yellow River, among others.  The interceptor sewer will also be upgraded.

If the council moves forward, construction is anticipated to begin in October of 2022 and be completed in November of 2023.  Rates are anticipated to increase as a result of this project.

The Bremen Town Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. ET today at the Bremen Town Hall at 111 S. Center Street.
