The Argos School Board members heard a report from the architect concerning potential projects coming up this summer and fall.
Superintendent Ned Speicher said there are two major projects the school board is looking to complete this year.
“The first project we’re going to tackle is remodeling and increasing the size of our cafeteria,” said Speicher. “It will involve more seating in our cafeteria. Our enrollment has been growing so we’re going to increase the size of our cafeteria which will be the main thing. The second big part of it will be new heating and air conditioning air handlers on our roof to upgrade the quality of our air and bring more fresh air into our classrooms.”
Speicher said the school board will sell some General Obligation bonds to help pay for these updates, but stressed that there will be no tax impact to the taxpayers.
“With the bonds we’ve paid off, it will be seamless. There will be no tax impact, no tax increase. We can just do it and maintain our school and improve our school without impacting the tax rates,” commented Speicher.
No formal action was taken by the school board members on this agenda item.
Additionally, the new playground equipment has arrived at the school corporation and it will be installed once the weather improves.
