Another 12,126 people in the state have tested positive with COVID-19 from January 5 to January 17, including 74 people in Marshall County, 23 people in Pulaski County and 16 people in Starke County, according to Tuesday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.
An additional 77 people in the state have died of COVID-19 from January 11 to January 17, including one person in Marshall County.
The number of patients with COVID-19 in hospitals around the state increased to 3,460 on Monday from Sunday’s census of 3,363, according to the state’s coronavirus website.
The Omicron variant is becoming more widely detected in samples analyzed and reported to the state’s coronavirus website. The Delta variant makes up 56.1 percent of the samples analyzed while the Omicron variant makes up 43.7 percent of samples analyzed.
