Former Plymouth Fire Chief Rod Miller will now serve as the new Plymouth Fire Inspector.
The announcement was made during the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Plymouth City Council meetings Monday night.
Human Resources Manager Jennifer Klingerman presented the City Council members with an updated job description for approval.
The fire inspector responds to emergencies as needed, including inspecting for fire code violations and taking photographs. The inspector also conducts inspections of buildings for potential fire hazards and/or proper fire extinguishing equipment, notifies appropriate individuals of corrective actions to be taken, and maintains all records and documents pertaining to inspections. The inspector also works with the fire chief and building commissioner to develop and enforce general fire safety orders as developed for the Plymouth Fire Department, plus other duties.
The council members approved the job description with a unanimous vote and congratulated Miller on the appointment.
