Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board to Work to Get Grant for Feasibility Study

The Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board members are looking to get a feasibility study in order to determine the best locations for canoe/kayak launches along the Yellow River from Bremen to the Marshall County/Starke County line.

West Township Trustee Terry Borggren told the board members that the committee held a meeting where they determined that the best sites for access points would be at the bridges between those points and prioritize at least four locations.  Sites would be Hickory Road, King Road, Peach Road, 12th Road, 13th Road, and Upas Road.

Borggren said a partnership has formed with the Starke County Park Board in collaborating with an access site at the Marshall County/Starke County line.  The bridge in that area is slated for replacement, but the entities are looking to work together to put an access site there.

The board members agreed to seek an Arrowhead grant to conduct a feasibility study as they look forward to this project.
