The Marshall County Election Board members discussed potential locations for Vote Centers in the upcoming 2022 Primary Election when they met this week.
There are sites around the county that the board members like to have available to Marshall County residents on Election Day.
In the 2020 election, there were two sites merged into the Knights of Columbus building in Plymouth, but the members would like to find another location for one of the sites west of the city to accommodate voters. The National Guard Armory was at one time an option to the Election Board, but with the pandemic the building was not available as members were on active duty. Other facility issues were also a deterrent.
They discussed the possibility of moving one Vote Center to the Life Enrichment Center or the Lifeplex facility. Conversations will be held with the managers of those facilities along with site visits to ensure security and ADA accessibility with a decision to be made in an upcoming meeting.
The board members agreed that The Pines building in Bremen is an ideal site for voters and will consider that as an option for Election Day and for early voting.
Other Vote Center locations in the past include the Culver Administration Building, the United Methodist Church in Argos, Matchett Center in Bourbon, Knights of Columbus in Plymouth, Tyner Community Building, Bremen High School, Marshall County REMC, and Pretty Lake Church Hall.
A formal list will be approved in an upcoming meeting, including sites for early voting in April.
