The Marshall County Health Department announced Friday that the Indiana Department of Health has depleted its inventory of rapid antigen COVID-19 tests and there will no deliveries for the foreseeable future due to a national shortage.
State-funded free COVID-19 testing sites will be out of rapid antigen COVID-19 tests soon. Marshall County Health officials say residents may secure rapid testing though a private provider, such as a pharmacy or primary care provider. They ask that residents do not seek a COVID-19 test at a hospital emergency room.
The state-funded free testing sites have plenty of PCR tests with results in five to seven days. There are no restrictions to receive a PCR test.
Free PCR testing is available at the Lifeplex at 2855 Miller Drive in Plymouth.
Residents who are experiencing symptoms should continue to stay home while waiting for test results. Positive residents with symptoms should stay home for a least five full days until fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and symptoms are improving.
