The Center Township Precinct Committeemen selected Lynn Gorski to fill the vacancy left by Jeanine Xaver. Earlier in the month, Xaver announced that she was resigning from her position as Plymouth Clerk-Treasurer effective Dec. 31.

The caucus was held at the Marshall County Republican Headquarters on Wednesday night.

Only two committeemen were able to vote. Precinct Committeeman Greg Compton attended the caucus, but he wasn’t able to vote since he hasn’t held the position long enough. Thirty days is required. Precinct Committeeman Robert Manuwal was not present. Committeemen Brenda Harper and Mechelle Longanecker were present to vote.

Gorski was the only applicant who showed interest in the position. She gave the committeemen her background. She has worked for the City of Plymouth Clerk-Treasurer’s office from June 1992 through May 2007 and most recently started working in the Clerk-Treasurer’s office as Payroll Coordinator in November.

“I look forward to the challenges facing the Clerk-Treasurer’s office and the opportunity to continue to serve the citizens of this great City of Plymouth,” said Gorski.

Current Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver stated, “I think she’ll do a great job.”

A going away party for Xaver was held Friday, Dec. 31 in the Council Chambers.

Gorski was sworn into office Saturday in the Council Chambers.
