Suspect Arrested after Reportedly Leading Culver Police in Pursuit

Police say a man was taken into custody Monday, December 6 following a pursuit that spanned three counties.

Officers from the Culver Police Department were advised of a hit and run accident in the Culver area around 5:30 p.m. ET and the victim in the accident was following the suspect who was driving a silver passenger car, according to the report.

A Culver Police Department officer attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver reportedly fled and led officers in a vehicle pursuit that traveled through portions of Fulton, Pulaski and Marshall Counties.

Officers deployed tire deflation devices on two separate occasions, which partially disabled the suspect’s vehicle, but the driver continued, according to the report.  Police say the suspect’s vehicle came into contact with the Culver officer’s vehicle three times during the pursuit, causing damage.

After 30 minutes, the driver was taken into custody without further incident in a parking lot near the intersection of State Road 10 and Lakeshore Drive in Culver, according to the report.

The driver was identified as 21-year-old Christian Sanderson, who had a prior Monterey address.   He was incarcerated in the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license, and leaving the scene of an accident.  Police say Sanderson was being held for another agency for an active felony warrant.

Formal charges are pending with the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
