Relocation of West Township Trustee to Happen after New Year

The relocation of the old West Township Trustee cabin will likely occur after the first of the new year.

Members of the Marshall County Parks and Recreation Department Board noted that the officials with Yoder Log and Timber in Nappanee agreed with the contract and it will be signed.  It also needs the signature of Board President Greg Hildebrand.   The next step is to find a place to move it.

The board members previously voted to move it from its current location at 10108 State Road 17 to Memorial Forest with the help of Big T Moving & Delivery in an effort to keep it in West Township.  They previously discussed moving the cabin to the old West Township School property across the road from its current location, Board Member Richard Markley previously commented that he thought with the progress made at cleaning up Memorial Forest it would be better suited there.  There is more room for parking for visitors and a school bus would better fit in that area if there are field trips to view the cabin for historical purposes.

The board members will meet on the property soon to find the best location for the cabin.  Board Secretary Deb VanDeMark will look into electric needs with NIPSCO in the coming weeks as she is awaiting paperwork to start the process.
