Students at the Culver Community School Corporation will benefit from a therapy dog after action taken by the school board this week.
Superintendent Karen Shuman presented the information to the school board where she stated High School English Teacher Michelle Forbert has a registered therapy dog that could be brought in to assist students.
“There’s definite evidence of animal therapy being productive in use for social and emotional needs of kids. We would like to attempt and try that this semester,” commented Shuman.
There would be no cost to bring in the therapy dog.
The board unanimously approved a motion to allow the introduction of the therapy dog at the Elementary and Middle/High Schools after the holiday break.
