Bourbon Town Council Discusses Well Maintenance

A well in the Town of Bourbon will get some attention following action by the Bourbon Town Council members Tuesday night.

Representatives from Wessler Engineering and Peerless Midwest indicated that there is a lot of build up at one of the wells in the town.  The engineers recommended cleaning the well and rehabilitating the pump to bring it back to proper working order.

They noted that getting this second well rehabilitated will ensure duplicity in case the main well happens to experience an issue.  It will also be an asset when the town looks toward the construction of a water treatment plant in 2023.  Initial discussions involve a third well with the new plant.

The rehabilitation of the pump was estimated at $18,590 while it would be $18,700 to clean the well.  Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger commented that the project is a necessity, especially for the purpose of a back-up and for plans moving forward.  The project would be paid for with funds out of the Water Department budget.

The Bourbon Town Council members approved the recommendation from Peerless Midwest to do the work as presented.  The work will start as soon as possible.
