The Town of Bourbon will be getting two Lucas Devices to assist first responders.
Town Council President Ward Byers explained that a Lucas Device is an automated CPR machine that has the ability to limit COVID-19 exposure, or other communicable viruses, to emergency responders. He noted one would be at the Tippecanoe Fire Department and one with Bourbon first responders.
“They’re widely used throughout Marshall County and Kosciusko County. I believe our area is maybe one of the few that do not have such a device from what I understand,” said Byers.
Byers stressed that the purchase of the two Lucas Devices is a permissible expense through the American Rescue Plan Act guidelines for use of funds. A quote of $35,901.78 was unanimously approved by the council to purchase the devices with those funds.
