Three Injured in Overnight Accident in Starke County

Three people were injured in an overnight accident Saturday on U.S. 30 near 1200 E. in Starke County.

Officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene Saturday after 3 a.m. CT where a preliminary investigation reportedly found that a 2017 Chevrolet Impala driven by 30-year-old Aubry Carter of Walkerton was traveling east in the westbound lanes on U.S. 30.  Police say Carter’s vehicle collided head-on with a semi pulling one trailer while it was traveling west in the westbound lane. 

Carter and two passengers, 28-year-old Chelsea Clingenpeel of North Liberty and 25-year-old Henry Clark of Walkerton, were airlifted from the scene, according to the report.  Police say the driver of the semi, 39-year-old Matthew Tule of Fort Wayne, was not injured in the accident. 

The Starke County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department, Koontz Lake Fire Department, Indiana State Police, Lutheran Air, Howard’s Towing, and Bettcher’s Towing.
