The Plymouth City Council members considered a resolution last week for the purchase of radios.
Plymouth Fire Chief Steve Holm explained that Center and West Township Trustees have agreed to purchase radios through the Plymouth Fire Department in order to take advantage of certain state pricing.
“Over the next two-to-three years we’re going to be replacing all of those radios,” said Chief Holm. “The townships, for their vehicles, have agreed to purchase 14 hand-held radios which will be just shy of about half of what we need for the whole department. That’s a huge boost to us to have that done. It’s about $45,000 for those radios, the chargers, the lapel mics, and everything that goes along with them.”
The city will pay for the radios and the township trustees will reimburse the city at a later time.
The Plymouth City Council unanimously approved a resolution outlining the agreement.
