John Glenn School Board Approves Replacement Old Dishwasher at High School

The John Glenn High School will be getting a new dishwasher.

Superintendent Christopher Winchell noted that the equipment is very old and it’s time for replacement.

“Supposedly, it’s the only one still running like this in the country,” commented Winchell.  “That’s what we were told by the companies.”

Winchell said Director of Transportation and Operations Will Groves and Food Services Director Glenda Smith worked on obtaining three quotes to purchase a new dishwasher, which includes all new plumbing similar to Milbur Plumbing Services Northern Beaches, exhaust, garbage disposal, and electrical work.  The $58,368.40 quote from C&T Design and Equipment Company also includes the installation.

The current unit has a gas booster pump to heat the water to a certain temperature to kill bacteria, but the new unit will be electric which will be more efficient.  Groves commented that electric is becoming standard, and only seven working natural gas boosters remain in the State of Indiana and the John Glenn School Corporation owns three of them.

The school board approved the purchase with a unanimous vote.
