Officials broke ground on a new housing development in Plymouth Tuesday morning.
Developer Kevin Berger stated that Riverside Commons will be located at the corner of Baker Street and Richter Road in Plymouth.
“Riverside Commons is going to be 40 units here in Plymouth and eight units in LaPaz,” said Berger. “The 40 units in Plymouth are going to be 12 two-bedroom and 28 three-bedroom where four ADA flats. The rest will be townhomes.”
In addition to Plymouth’s construction, the Riverside Commons project extends to LaPaz where eight units will be constructed there with the groundbreaking for that project in the Spring of 2022.
The project was a result of plans within the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Communities Initiative which is designed to improve the quality of life. It will use Low Income Housing Tax Credits to develop the project which were awarded by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.
Marshall County Crossroads Communications and Marketing Chair Marty Oosterbaan spoke about the team’s partnership with all municipalities which helped make this project a reality, while Mayor Mark Senter stated that this project will help the public in the quest to find more housing in Plymouth and in Marshall County as a whole.
Several local sub-contractors will be used to construct the homes. The project is anticipated to be complete in the Spring of 2023.
