GasBuddy Petroleum Analyst Provides Holiday Gasoline Price Outlook

It will be a busy travel week as Hoosiers make plans to visit loved ones for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Gasbuddy Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan said prices look more favorable this week for trips on Indiana’s roadways.

“Thankfully, prices have been falling in the last week,” stated DeHaan.  “The statewide average is down close to five cents a gallon in the last week. We’re now at about $3.32 a gallon, though there are some pockets across the state that $2.99 prices are starting to pop back up.  As most motorists are hitting the road for the holiday, do expect that the decline in prices should continue as oil prices now are nearly $9.00 a barrel lower than just a couple of weeks ago.”

DeHaan said it may be a little early to predict what we might see in early 2022.

DeHaan added, “A lot of the trends that we’ve been watching have been changing on a near-daily basis it seems like and that certainly could be the trend in 2022.  A lot more unknowns are entering the equation with COVID-19 cases starting to go up, some countries abroad are starting to issue lockdowns – it’s tough to know how much those lockdowns will impair oil demand and that’s really going to be the name of the game in the year ahead.”

Gasoline prices around this time last year were $1.96 a gallon.
