Forty-Five New COVID-19 Cases in Tri-County Area

The number of cases of COVID-19 is increasing in the tri-county area.

Marshall County had 32 new cases of COVID-19, while Starke County had 3 new cases and Pulaski County had 10 new cases, according to Friday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.  They were among 2,358 newly diagnosed residents in the state.

There were 37 newly reported COVID-19 deaths in the state, including one in Marshall County.

Over 3.2 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated.  The state’s vaccination rate is 52 percent. Marshall County’s rate is up to 43.9 percent, Pulaski County’s rate is 44.1 percent, and Starke County’s rate is 38.5 percent. 

Just under 13,000 COVID-19 booster doses have been administered to Hoosiers. 

The number of breakthrough cases totals 59,228 in the state. There have been 1,268 breakthrough hospitalizations and 623 breakthrough deaths. 

The COVID-19 vaccine is free to residents five and older.  The pediatric vaccine is available to children 5-11 and the standard COVID-19 vaccine is available to Hoosiers 12 and older.  For more information or to find a vaccination site, visit www.ourshot.in.gov or call 211.
