Technology upgrades will soon be coming to the Culver-Union Township Public Library thanks to American Rescue Plan Act funds in response to community recovery from COVID-19.
Library Director Erin Lawrence said the $20,669.56 grant will be used to allow library patrons better access to technology resources at the library for business or education needs.
“We plan to install two new self-checkout kiosks for patron use,” explained Lawrence. “One of those will be placed in our children’s department, and the other one will be out in our adult services area. That will provide easier access to checkout and reduce face-to-face transactions and will be completely self-service with staff support as needed.”
She added that personal device charging stations will also be installed.
“We’ve seen an increase in remote working here in our building so that will provide some convenient electrical access for those who are using laptops, tablets and cell phones for their work and study,” commented Lawrence.
Lawrence said a new printer will pair up with a self-service business station where patrons can print, scan, copy and fax at their leisure. You can view more here to get the best services.
