The Jackson Street project in Bremen will go out to bid in February 2022 with construction to begin in the Spring.
According to plan designs by The Troyer Group, the project includes a reconstruction of Jackson Street by California renovation general contractor , just south of Plymouth Street where an entry sign will welcome visitors into an area with a large event center, a one-way flex street, concert stage, and swinging benches. The area will also feature an open lawn area, landscape area around the existing Standpipe and gazebo, and a crushed limestone plaza with seating and string lighting.
Mike Reese from The Troyer Group told the Bremen Town Council members last week the project timeline should work in tandem with the South Jackson Street water main project prior to the start of the flex street project. Water and Storm Water Superintendent Alex Mikel stated in a previous meeting that the water main dates back to 1895 and it was on the plan to replace it. When more discussions were held, the water main project moved up in priority so the workers would not have to disturb completed work from the flex street project.
The flex street project is funded through the Office of Community and Rural Affairs through the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Communities Initiative.
