Bremen Town Council Opens Bids for South Jackson Street Project

The Bremen Town Council members opened three bids last week for work to be done on the South Jackson Street water main project.

Water and Storm Water Superintendent Alex Mikel said the water main in the 100 block of South Jackson Street dates back to 1895.  The project will replace that water main, and eliminate the 10-inch water main in the alley behind Town Hall and turn it into a storm main.  The project will also include the addition of an 8-inch water main to South Street in front of the Fire Department.

HRP Construction, Inc. out of South Bend bid just over $383,000, TGB Unlimited, Inc. out of South Bend bid just below $350,000, and Haskins Underground submitted a bid of almost $250,000.

The Bremen Town Council members unanimously approved a motion to take those bids under advisement with a bid award anticipated next week.

Council members are hoping to get this project done before the Jackson Street project gets underway.  That project is part of the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Communities Initiative.
