Plans are in the works to replace the Water Plant in the Town of Bourbon.
Bourbon Town Council President Ward Byers stated during last week’s meeting that action was previously taken to approve a contract with Wessler Engineering to begin the process of replacing that facility, which dates back to 1965.
“It would put in a new building and all new mechanics, computerization, and provide ample water for today and for the future,” said Byers. “It would also provide ample fire protection for the community. We have to be able to pump that water to put in the tankers.”
Byers said he and Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger recently met with the engineers and financial representatives from Baker Tilly concerning the project.
“We will continue to work on that plan throughout this year and hopefully in January of 2023 we’ll be breaking ground on a new facility to provide good quality water to Bourbon for years to come.”
In the meantime, officials are discussing putting in an application for the second round of State Water Infrastructure Fund grants. The town is talking about that with Baker Tilly officials and engineers of financing the project through very low-interest state loans.
