Bourbon Crowdfunding Grant Project in Progress, Playground Equipment Ready for Use

The pickleball and basketball court projects in Bourbon are underway.

Bourbon Town Council President Ward Byers said crews were on site at the Bourbon Community Park milling the area this week.

Byers explained, “Our asphalt contractors were in and milled out a large section of it.  We’re waiting for them to come back and apply the new asphalt surfaces, and backfill around the basketball goals.  In November, the fencing company is scheduled to come in and put in all of the new fencing.  That will be all that we’re going to do for the rest of this year because of weather.  What would happen after that would be painting of the courts and that type of thing.  We’re not going to do any of that until the Spring.”

The Town of Bourbon was successful in collecting money for this project through a crowdfunding grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s CreatINg Places program.  Residents and business owners were generous in donating over $30,000 toward this project for the match of a crowdfunding grant from the State for $30,000.

On top of that, playground equipment has been installed in the park.  Byers said a new addition was just finished.

Byers continued, “We also installed a new Expression Swing in the park.  An Expression Swing is simply a swing that allows the parent and their small child to swing face-to-face together and just kind of enjoy that time together.  That is done.”

The Bourbon Community Park is located along East Sunset Drive.
