South Bend Man Arrested after Allegedly Fleeing Accident Scene

A South Bend man was apprehended shortly after allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident in Plymouth Tuesday night.

Plymouth Police Department officers say a single vehicle accident occurred just before 8 p.m. ET at West Jefferson Street and North Fifth Street where a vehicle driven by Russell James Frantom III reportedly hit a utility pole there.  He fled the scene of the crash on foot and was later located at the intersection of West Madison Street and Fourth Street, according to the report.    

Frantom III was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a crash. 

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
