Marshall County surpassed the 7,000 total COVID-19 case mark in Thursday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health. The update showed 35 new cases in Marshall County for a new overall total of 7,002 cases. There were 20 new cases in Starke County for a new overall total of 2,605 and 17 new cases in Pulaski County for an overall total there of 1,487 COVID-19 cases.
Another 50 people in the state have died of COVID-19 between July 30 and September 8 of this year.
The number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals around the state has crept up to 2,602.
The Indiana Department of Health will have a drive-thru testing and vaccination clinic in Pulaski County Friday, September 10 and Saturday, September 11 from noon to 8 p.m. ET at the Winamac Knights of Columbus.
A total of 6.3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Indiana and 3.1 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated. The vaccination rate in Marshall County is 45.6 percent, while Pulaski County’s rate is at 44.9 percent and Starke County’s rate is at 39.4 percent.
Indiana Department of Health officials have reported 18,042 breakthrough cases, 397 breakthrough hospitalizations, and 115 breakthrough deaths. The breakthrough cases are updated once a week on the state’s vaccination website at www.ourshot.in.gov. That website also offers information on vaccination sites and appointment times.
