There were 37 new COVID-19 cases in the tri-county area, according to Tuesday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. There were 20 new cases in Starke County, 12 new cases in Marshall County, and five new cases in Pulaski County. They were among 2,673 new cases in the state.
Another 81 COVID-19 deaths were reported in the state that occurred from August 30 to September 20.
The number of people in hospitals around the state due to COVID-19 is on a downward trend. Tuesday’s report showed 2,477 hospitalizations. The latest peak was at 2,687 just last week.
The Indiana Department of Health will be at the Starke County Fairgrounds Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25 from Noon to 8 p.m. CT both days to offer COVID-19 testing and vaccinations to residents.
Rapid antigen and PCR testing are available with no appointments necessary at the fairgrounds at 400 Division Street in Hamlet. The Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be available. The Pfizer vaccine can be administered to children from age 12 to 17.
