Nearly 100 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Tri-County Area

Thursday’s coronavirus update from the Indiana Department of Health showed another high COVID-19 case count in the tri-county area.

There were over 100 cases in the area in Wednesday’s report with 94 new cases Thursday.  Marshall County had 41 new cases, Starke County had 23 new cases and Pulaski County reported 30 new cases.  Statewide there were 4,157 new cases in Thursday’s update. 

The overall total of COVID-19 cases since March 2020 in Marshall County is now 7,209.  In Starke County it is 2,713 and in Pulaski County it is 1,582. 

Another 31 people in the state have died of COVID-19 between September 3 and September 15 including one person in Marshall County. 

The Indiana Department of Health is hosting a COVID-19 testing and vaccination clinic in Plymouth and in Francesville Friday, September 17 and Saturday, September 18.

The site in Plymouth will be open from noon to 8 p.m. ET both days at the Lifeplex on Miller Drive.  The Indiana Department of Health will be at the Francesville Fall Festival on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET at 102 E. Montgomery Street.

No appointments are necessary.  Rapid antigen and PCR tests are available.  The Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be available during these events.  The Pfizer vaccine will require two doses while the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is only one dose.

Children 12-17 are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine only.

The number of breakthrough cases in Indiana now totals 22,666 while 523 hospitalizations have been reported.  The number of breakthrough deaths is 144.  The Indiana Department of Health notes that 92 percent of breakthrough deaths are residents who are 65 years of age and older.
