The Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board members took an additional step Thursday night in finding a new home for the West Township Trustee cabin.
The members unanimously approved a motion to move it from its current location on State Road 17 across the highway to lots owned by West Township. An offer will be made to acquire the property. The entire situation will be contingent on funding and the Board of Zoning Appeals approving certain variances for setbacks on the property.
The board is hoping that grant funding can help with the cost of the project. The board members hope to work with County Attorney Jim Clevenger to produce a contract with Yoder’s Log and Timber in Nappanee, Indiana for the relocation of the cabin. The board previously accepted a proposal from the company for the project. The first payment to the company would be made when the project begins, but a specific timeline has not been determined.
