Indiana Department of Health Updates County Metrics Map

Marshall, Starke and Pulaski Counties remain in the orange status on the updated County Metrics Map provided by the Indiana Department of Health.  The orange status indicates a high community spread of COVID-19.

There are 25 counties in the red status, or very high community spread areas.  Tippecanoe County is the only county considered to have a moderate community spread of COVID-19. The rest of the state is in the orange status.

Over 60 new cases of COVID-19 were reported locally with 36 cases in Marshall County, 15 cases in Starke County and 13 cases in Pulaski County.  There were 3,936 cases statewide in Wednesday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health.

Another 72 people in the state have died of COVID-19, including two people in Starke County.

The Indiana Department of Health will be at the Starke County Fairgrounds Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25 from Noon to 8 p.m. CT both days to offer COVID-19 testing and vaccinations to residents.

Rapid antigen and PCR testing are available with no appointments necessary at the fairgrounds at 400 Division Street in Hamlet.  The Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be available.   The Pfizer vaccine can be administered to children from age 12 to 17.

Other vaccination sites can be found at www.ourshot.in.gov

In the updated long-term care facility dashboard on the state’s online coronavirus website, there were no new resident cases and nine newly reported deaths in the state between August 6 and September 20.
