Fifty-Four New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Tri-County Area

Thursday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health showed 5,222 new cases of COVID-19 statewide with 23 new cases in Starke County, 19 new cases in Marshall County, and 12 new cases in Pulaski County. 

The 7-day positivity rate for all tests is 11.3 percent from August 20 to August 26.  The positivity rate for unique individuals is 18.8 percent from the same time period. 

Another 23 people have died of COVID-19 throughout the state from August 17 to September 1 which pushes the total number of deaths to 14,101. 

The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state has increased to 2,366.

The COVID-19 vaccine is free to Hoosiers 12 and older.  To find the nearest vaccination site, visit www.ourshot.in.gov.  The vaccination rate in Marshall County is at 45 percent, Pulaski County is up to 44.2 percent and Starke County is up to 39 percent. 

Out of 3.1 million fully vaccinated Hoosiers, the total number of breakthrough cases totals 12,783 while the number of breakthrough deaths is 93.
