Two people died in a three-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on U.S. 30 west of Oak Drive in Plymouth.
Plymouth Police Department officers say that at 7:24 a.m. ET, 28-year-old Iderjit Singh Sidu of Stockton, California driving a 2019 Feightliner rear-ended a 2009 Nissan Rogue that was stopped in traffic. The collision forced the Nissan Rogue into a 2011 Peterbilt semi tanker operated by 61-year-old Thomas Lewis of Wanatah, Indiana, according to the report. A fire erupted at the crash site.
Police say the occupants of the passenger vehicle, 21-year-old John Paul David Eckel of La Porte, Indiana and 19-year-old Patric J. Mcglynn of Enfield, Connecticut died in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
The Plymouth Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Plymouth Fire and EMS, and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office.
