The Indiana Department of Health reported that another 3,713 Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19, including 24 people in Marshall County, 11 people in Starke County and four people in Pulaski County.
The total number of breakthrough cases reported so far is 9,922 with 272 of those patients seeking hospitalization. The number of breakthrough deaths totals 83. The Indiana Department of Health notes that over 95 percent of breakthrough deaths are people over the age of 65 with the average age of 80.
Another 15 people in the state have died of COVID-19.
Testing remains available and locations can be found online at www.coronavirus.in.gov. Starke County Health Nurse Frank Lynch recommends that any residents taking the home test confirm a positive diagnosis with a health official. That may require an official test.
A total of 6,082,214 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Indiana while 3,032,290 individuals are fully vaccinated. The COVID-19 vaccine is free to Hoosiers 12 and older. To find the nearest vaccination site, visit www.ourshot.in.gov.
