The John Glenn School Board is still working on expanding the corporation’s Head Start program.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell said there are some items that are being included in a Memorandum of Understanding between the school, Head Start and St. Patrick’s Church which will be reviewed as soon as the attorneys have drafted the documents with all of the terms involved. Once those documents are approved, construction projects can occur at the church to accommodate the expansion of Head Start classes there.
It was previously reported that the expansion project was initiated in order to accommodate more students in the Head Start program. St. Patrick’s Church held classes there for many years before closing their doors a few years ago. There will be updates to the classrooms to make way for the current learning environment.
Until everything is settled, Head Start classes will begin next week at the current location at Walkerton Elementary School with 20 students. It will expand for more students at a later time.
