Wednesday’s updated County Metrics Map on the Indiana Department of Health’s coronavirus website shows Marshall, Starke and Pulaski Counties in the yellow status, which means a moderate level of community spread of COVID-19. There are 11 counties in the state in the red status, 62 counties in the orange status, and 19 counties in the yellow status. There are no counties in the blue status which indicates a low community spread of COVID-19.
Another 3,558 people in the state have tested positive with COVID-19. Marshall County reported 30 new cases, Starke County reported 10 new cases and Pulaski County reported four new cases. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Marshall County since March 2020 is 6,538. Starke County’s total is 2,997 and it is 1,290 in Pulaski County.
An additional 25 Hoosiers have died of COVID-19.
The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 continues to rise with 1,616 patients in hospitals in the state. In a press release from the Saint Joseph Health System, officials say as of August 16, there were 207 active cases and 60 hospitalizations in the region.
The weekly long-tern care facility update shows 62 new resident cases from November 29 to August 8, and 12 resident deaths from COVID-19 from August 6 to August 16. Wintersong Village Nursing Home in Knox reported less than five new cases of COVID-19.
