Marshall County and Pulaski County are now in the orange status, indicating a high community spread of COVID-19 as shown on the Indiana Department of Health’s County Metrics Map. Starke County remains in the yellow status which indicates a moderate spread of COVID-19.
The County Metrics Map is updated weekly and is based on the previous week’s statistics concerning COVID-19.
Sixteen counties are in the red status while only nine counties in the state are in the yellow status. The remainder of the state is in the status that represents a high community spread of COVID-19.
Another 5,037 Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Wednesday’s update with 19 people in Pulaski County, 16 people in Marshall County, and seven people in Starke County.
An additional 19 people in the state have died of COVID-19 between August 2 and August 24.
The Indiana Department of Health’s coronavirus dashboard shows 2,048 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms in hospitals around the state.
The long-term care facility weekly dashboard shows 143 new resident cases from March 29, 2020 to August 17, 2021 and 18 new resident deaths from January 4, 2021 to August 23, 2021. There were no new cases or deaths reported locally.
