Bremen Town Council Members Approve Wage Ordinance, Purchase of Supplies for Water Department Project

The Bremen Town Council members unanimously approved the 2022 wage ordinance at their meeting this week.

The ordinance reflects a three-percent increase in pay for all employees.

In other business, Water and Storm Water Superintendent Alex Mikel asked the council members to approve the purchase of needed supplies for everyday operations and an upcoming water main project on Jackson Street as it is very difficult to get supplies at this time.

He said he wants to replace a water main dated back to 1895 on South Jackson Street before the Jackson Street reconstruction project begins next year, and work on another section on South Street to tie it all together.

“We’re going to order all of the material for both projects because we don’t know what the lead time is,” stated Mikel. “We’re working with JPR right now on the prints trying to get everything finalized there, but we’re talking another month or two out before we’re ready to actually bid it.  So, we need to get the material ordered now.”

The council members gave their blessing to have Mikel move forward with getting quotes and purchasing needed inventory.
