Bremen Town Council Approves Annexation Ordinance for Solar Project

The Bremen Town Council members adopted an annexation ordinance Monday afternoon that paves the way for the annexation of land to accommodate a 35 acre solar park on 1st Road in Bremen.

During a public hearing earlier this month, IMPA Solar Project Developer Darrin Jacobs explained to the council members that the project will be interconnected with Bremen’s electric system to assist with 6.75 MW of electricity for only the Town of Bremen.

The property to be annexed is non-contiguous to the town which is allowed by code.

It notes that the annexed area will benefit from police protection, street and road maintenance and other non-capital services normally provided with in the corporate boundaries after one year.  After three years, street construction, sewer and water facilities could be available, if necessary.

With the adoption of this ordinance, the project could begin this fall with construction to last about 8 to 10 months.  The ordinance will be in effect in the next 30 days and after its publication.
