Triton Schools Planning ‘Mask-Optional Approach’ for Upcoming School Year

Triton students will not be required to wear masks when they return to school.

“We kind of wanted to wait a little while to see kind of how things were going in the county, and so, right now, at this time, with the information we currently have, we’re going to go with a mask-optional approach,” Superintendent Jeremy Riffle told the school board Monday.

He said students will have to wear a mask on the school bus due to current federal requirements, and contact tracing will continue. “We will not be the vaccination police,” Riffle said. “However, the state has come out with very clear guidelines as it relates to masking up, contact tracing, and quarantines.”

But Riffle stressed that the plans can change, and school officials will stay in contact with the Marshall County Health Department.
