The Plymouth Public Library will be getting some renovations this fall.
Library Director Steven Buras told the Marshall County Council last week that the project will address some structural needs, like roofing, drainage, and HVAC systems. But it will also create a “forward-thinking library,” with improved WiFi service and a full teaching kitchen that can also be used for craft-making. There will also be provisions for a future recording studio, green screen room, and woodshop.
The county council voted five-to-two to let the library spend a total of $4.9 million out of its general, rainy day, and library reserve funds. Buras expects the work to start in October or November and take 10 to 12 months. He hopes to keep the building open as much as possible, but the library may have to switch to curbside service for a few days at a time.
