The Marshall County Health Department sent out a notice Friday afternoon regarding a petroleum spill or overfill at an underground storage tank site at 200 W. Academy Road. The owner or operator is Culver Community Schools.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management was notified of the incident on July 23. State regulations require the school corporation to take immediate steps to contain and clean up the spill or overfill and to investigate the extent of the release and take mitigation steps. Officials will mitigate fire, explosion or vapor hazards, and adverse impacts on human health and the environment.
