More Marshall County residents are heading back to work, but the unemployment rate keeps inching higher. The county’s June unemployment rate was 3.4 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. That’s up from 3.2 percent the month before.
But more Marshall County residents are joining the labor force, and the number of residents believed to be employed actually increased by almost 400 from May to June.
The county’s June unemployment rate tied those of Elkhart and Kosciusko counties at 3.4 percent, while Starke County is at 5.2 percent. The state as a whole had a non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 4.7 percent.
