More Indiana counties are experiencing a moderate spread of COVID-19. Wednesday’s updated County Metrics Map provided by the Indiana Department of Health showed 15 counties in the orange status, 47 counties in yellow and 30 counties in blue.
The blue status represents a low community spread of COVID-19 while yellow indicates a moderate spread, and the orange status shows a high community spread of COVID-19.
Marshall County and Starke County remain in the blue status, while Pulaski County has elevated to the yellow status. Information on the Indiana Department of Health’s map shows a seven-day all-tests positivity rate of 9.5 percent in Pulaski County.
Another person in Marshall County has died of COVID-19, which pushes the total number of deaths in the county to 117. There were 12 newly reported COVID-19 deaths statewide in Wednesday’s report.
An additional 1,248 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 with 13 of those residents from Marshall County, and one person each in Starke County and Pulaski County. COVID-19 testing has also increased in the tri-county area.
The number of patients suffering from COVID-19 continues to escalate in hospitals around the state. Wednesday’s report showed 781 people in hospitals, which is the highest number of COVID-19 patients since the end of May.
