Indiana Department of Health to Correct County-Level COVID-19 Vaccination Data

The Indiana Department of Health will soon release a more accurate picture of where COVID-19 vaccine recipients live, after about three percent of vaccination records were apparently assigned to the wrong county.

Health officials blame the error on an automated process with an external vendor. It assigned vaccination records based on ZIP codes, rather than full addresses. The problem is that some ZIP codes cross county lines.

The state plans to make the corrections to its vaccine dashboard within the next few weeks. Health officials say all counties’ vaccination rates will be impacted, but no local counties are expected to see changes of more than five percent.
