Culver-Union Township Fire Chief Terry Wakefield told the Culver Town Council members Monday night that he is looking into the cause of flooding at the fire station on Lakeshore Drive.
“We’re working with Bob [Porter, Culver Utility Superintendent] to see what’s going on with it,” said Wakefield. “We don’t know exactly what’s going on, but we had two inches of water in there. We haven’t had water issues since we built the building, so something’s changed, altered, clogged, plugged – something’s happening but we’re working on it.”
He also stated in his report that the fire departments in the county is working on a fundraising effort to gather money to assist uninsured people on fire departments in the county or who have trouble paying funeral costs, those with needs who have been diagnosed with an illness or other needs.
Wakefield said more solid information will be provided in upcoming meetings.
