Bourbon’s broadband project has gotten a $122,000 boost. The town council passed a resolution Tuesday allocating a portion of Bourbon’s American Rescue Plan money to Surf Broadband’s ongoing infrastructure build.
Council Member Les McFarland said it’s been in the works for years, but all the plans had fallen through until now. “I think it’s a good thing for the community, and we just need it, especially with COVID, people doing online stuff now,” he said. “Houses need it. People are working from home. It’s an essential part of life today.”
The project is expected to give residents access to 100 megabit upload and download speeds this year.
