The Bourbon Sport Court crowdfunding campaign has reached its $30,000 goal, unlocking a match from the state. “I am quite excited to say that we raised $32,065,” Town Council President Ward Byers announced during last week’s meeting, “and we will be receiving the match of $30,000 from the State of Indiana.”
The project will update the current basketball courts and add a pickleball court, among other improvements. Byers said the core project is currently estimated to cost under $42,000, leaving over $20,000 for benches, lighting, bleachers, or potential cost overruns. Bourbon took part in the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s CreatINg Places program, which provides matching grants for local crowdfunding efforts.
A $10,000 donation from Harmony Marketing Group helped put the campaign over the $30,000 mark. But Byers stressed that all donations were important. “We had major donors to down to the five-dollar donors, and every single one of those people are just as important as the $10,000 donor,” Byers said. “It allowed the town to receive the $30,000 match, and do some really nice work down at the park and to really improve that area for everyone in the community.”
Construction is expected to start in mid-to-late August.
