Two more people have died of COVID-19 in Marshall County, according to Tuesday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. There have been 116 COVID-19 deaths in Marshall County since April 2020.
There were six other deaths reported in the state in information submitted by the state which increases the total number of statewide COVID-19 deaths to 13,211.
There were 370 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19 in Tuesday’s report with one additional case in Starke County and one additional case in Pulaski County. There were no additional COVID-19 cases in Marshall County.
Over 3,300 cases of COVID-19 variants have been identified in Indiana, with state officials seeing the B.1.1.7 variant originally identified in the U.K. being the most prevalent.
The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 continues on a downward trend. There were 705 patients in hospitals around the state listed in Tuesday’s report.
The COVID-19 vaccine remains available to residents aged 12 and older. Appointments can be made at https://ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211.
A total of 5.1 million doses of the vaccine have been administered in Indiana and over 2.5 million residents are fully vaccinated.
The weekly school coronavirus update provided by the state, which is a week behind, showed 217 additional student COVID-19 cases, seven new teacher cases and 19 new staff cases.
Plymouth High School, Menominee Elementary School, Jefferson Elementary School, Urey Middle School, Walkerton Elementary School, and North Liberty Elementary School had less than five new student cases.
